Community Bulletin Board

We do have an area on our website where you can list items you want to sell. If you look under resources on AbberlyPlace.com, you will see a drop down screen that will say Community Bulletin Board. From here you can list items that you are wanting to selling (including us…we have some fantastic pieces that we have removed from our models that are practically brand new).

There is a place where you can post job opportunities, events through the area, etc. It is free and we will publicize the items for you. Take advantage of this service we offer. We want to make sure that we are constantly working on things that will make life easier for you. If you have any suggestions, feel free to let us know.

Abberly Place Apartments April 2013 Newsletter

Join Our Abberly Place Relay For Life Team!

Unfortunately, most of us have been affected by cancer one way or another. We have all know someone who has had to battle this awful disease. Some of you may have even fought the fight yourselves. We know for a fact that we have several residents who have beat or are currently battling cancer.

In honor of these residents and everyone else that is affected, Abberly Place will be participating in the Relay For Life Walk sponsored by The American Cancer Society. The event will take place in Garner on April 26th. We are asking that all of our residents sign up to become part of the Abberly Place Team and help us raise money to fight cancer. Please log into relay.acsevents.org, to read more and sign up!

You can be a part of the Abberly Place Team or make donations to sponsor our team. We have had a slow start so we really hope to see more of you join us in this very important event. It will be lots of fun and the proceeds will go to a great cause. Thank you in advance and we look forward to seeing you all there!

Cancer Prevention

More than half of all cancer deaths could be prevented by making healthy choices like not smoking, staying at a healthy weight, eating right, and keeping active. Visit the website, www.cancer.org to find out how to help lower your chances of getting cancer, plus what screening tests the American Cancer Society recommends, and when.

Here you will find out how certain things such as tobacco use, sun and diet can play a huge role in causing some cancers. You will also find tips on how to improve these things in order to live a healthier lifestyle and decrease your chances of getting this awful disease.

Pool Season Is Here!

Although it is still cold outside, both of our pools are usually opened by the end of the first week of April. Of course we have to wait for Wake County to come and do their inspections, so the exact opening date will depend on them.

Some of you may have already checked out our improvements at the Phase 1 pool, but if not, please do so. We have painted and resurfaced the inside of the pool, resurfaced a lot of the deck area and resealed the tile. It looks great and we are excited for you all to enjoy it.

Please remember that there are pool rules posted at each pool and we ask that you take time to read them and abide by them.

Some, but not all rules are:

  1. No pets allowed inside the pool or the pool deck areas.
  2. No more than 2 guests at a time allowed per apartment
  3. No glass containers of any kind allowed in the pool areas
  4. No horseplay or rough housing allowed
  5. No one allowed inside the pool areas before 10:00 a.m. and after 10:00 p.m.

Please let us know if you have any questions about any of the Pool Rules.

Rent vs. Buying

In today's economy, with unpredictable lay offs and relocations, people are choosing to rent housing versus buying a home. Renting offers short term obligation for those people who are uncertain what their financial standing will be in the near future.

If your company decides to downsize or relocate, you will not be locked into a 30 year mortgage. Most apartment communities offer flexible lease terms and options to break a contract if something unfortunate, like a job loss, happens.

Also, with renting an apartment, you will get the convenience of onsite amenities and benefits such as fitness centers, swimming pools, business centers and 24 hour maintenance. You will never have to replace an appliance or do any home repairs. This saves time and money.

Don't Do It Yourself

Leave your home maintenance tasks to our professionals! With a simple phone call or email to the office, your repair will be added to our list for our quickest possible service. An even better way to do this is submitting your request on our website, www.abberlyplace.com. It will automatically get put into our computer system for the Service Team and send the leasing office an e-mail that your request is pending.

Maintenance emergencies, on the other hand, are a different story- please dial 919-772-6545 immediately, any time and listen for the prompt that directs you to the emergency maintenance voice mail. Our on-call Service person will call you back and assist you ASAP.

Air Filter Changes

The Service Team will be changing air filters in the following buildings during the month of April; Please make a note for yourselves if your building is on the list above. We ask that you kennel or secure all pets and please disarm alarm systems for that day.

We change your air filters so that your heating/air conditioning unit works more efficiently. Thank you for your cooperation.

Tell Us How We Are Doing

As many of you know, we have become Survey Savvy. We have a survey that we send out to people who have recently moved into Abberly, moved out of Abberly, a Service Request Survey and a general Resident Survey. We truly want to know what you think and how we are serving you.

Our number one goal is always to achieve the highest level of Customer Service. Without you, our customer, we have no purpose. Your input helps us improve in needed areas or gives us ideas of new things that we can do to enhance your living experience. Please take time to go to http://abberlyplace.com, and tell us how we are doing.

Thank you.

Be Proactive

You more than likely have seen the commercials from Allstate stating warm weather increases car break-ins. Do you know what the most affective way of deterring this type of crime is? It is simple, keep you automobile locked at all times. Simple rule of thumb, don't make it easy for thieves to get your belongings.

Hot items that the Town of Garner Police Department has listed, are navigation systems, laptops, tablets or iPads and iPods. If you leave these things in your car, please put them out of site. This philosophy goes for your home as well. We all know that crime occurs in the most prestigious areas, be proactive and if it has a lock, use it.

Parking Lot Painting/Striping

Once again, the parking lot project for Phase 2 of the community got canceled for March, due to the weather. That has now been rescheduled for April 16th and 17th.

We hope that this time there will be no rain and the sun will shine for us. The painting will make the parking lots look fresh and new, so we are anxious to get them done for spring.

We will need for anyone who plans to be at home during the day on April 16th and 17th, to please park your cars on Phase 1 of the property. The striping should not take long if everyone complies and moves their cars.

If you fail to have your car moved for this to take place, it may result in you having to come home in order to move it or us having the car towed to another area of the community.

We will send out a reminder email and place notices on the buildings as we approach those dates. Thank you in advance for cooperating while we work to keep Abberly Place beautiful!

Pick Up Behind Your Dog!

We have noticed a HUGE problem with residents NOT picking up behind their dogs.

It has gotten so bad that others cannot even walk through the grass to pick up their dog's poop, without stepping in someone else's.

This problem exists throughout the property on Phase 1 and Phase 2 and is all over the place.

The worst part of this is that we have doggie poop stands in several areas and people are allowing their dog to go beside the stand and still not picking it up.

Not only is this unsightly and unsanitary, it is also plain lazy, ridiculous, irresponsible and against the law.

We are encouraging all residents to watch carefully and let us know if you see anyone not picking up behind their dogs. TAKE A PICTURE OF THE GUILTY PERSON AND OR DOG AND SEND IT TO US.

Or, feel free to call and leave a message or drop us an anonymous note in the drop box, with a description of the person and/or dog and what building they walk into.

Another issue that has been brought to our attention is that some pet owners are "walking" their dogs without a leash.

This is also against the rules and against the law. Anyone seen with a dog off the leash will immediately be fined and if it occurs a second time, you will be asked to remove the dog from the community.

Everyone should remember that having a pet in the community is simply a privilege and can be taken away at any time.

If we find that you are being irresponsible with your pet, we will "evict" him or her from the community and pet fees are not refundable.

Thank you all for your help in correcting this problem and a big THANK YOU to those responsible pet owners who DO follow the rules.
