Community Bulletin Board

We do have an area on our website where you can list items you want to sell. If you look under resources on AbberlyPlace.com, you will see a drop down screen that will say Community Bulletin Board. From here you can list items that you are wanting to selling (including us…we have some fantastic pieces that we have removed from our models that are practically brand new).

There is a place where you can post job opportunities, events through the area, etc. It is free and we will publicize the items for you. Take advantage of this service we offer. We want to make sure that we are constantly working on things that will make life easier for you. If you have any suggestions, feel free to let us know.

Abberly Place Apartments February 2013 Newsletter

Love Is In The Air

Your Abberly Place Team would like to spread the love to all of our wonderful residents by wishing you all a very Happy Valentine's Day. Whether you snuggle up with a special someone or just pamper yourself, we hope that it is a joyous day for you all!

Relay for Life- Abberly Team

As some of you may remember, last year we created an Abberly Place Team for the Susan G. Komen Foundation walk that benefited breast cancer fighters and survivors. Although we had a blast doing that fundraiser, we had a hard time getting residents involved, because they were already committed to another team for the same walk.

This year, we have decided to participate in the Relay for Life, supported by the American Cancer Society. The event will take place on April 26th at Benson Lake Park in Garner. This event is lots of fun to do with a group. There will be music and refreshments and lots of joy and we honor those residents, their friends and families that have been impacted by this horrible disease.

Attention All Residents...

We need your help. We will soon be sending out surveys in an effort to get your feedback in different areas. There will be surveys to follow up on Service Requests that you submitted as well as surveys to find out what you like about things at Abberly Place and what we can do to make it an even better place to live.

There is no better way to improve Customer Service than to find out what YOU, the residents want. Please be on the look out for the new surveys and feel free to go to our website, www.abberlyplace.com to fill out our regular Resident Survey. Your input is greatly valued and appreciated.

Don't Do It Yourself

Leave your home maintenance tasks to our professionals! With a simple phone call or email to the office, your repair will be added to our list for our quickest possible service. Even better, if you fill out the maintenance request on our website, www.abberlyplace.com, it will automatically get put into our computer system for the Service Team.

Maintenance emergencies, on the other hand, are a different story- please dial 919-772-6545 immediately, any time and listen for the prompt that directs you to the emergency maintenance voice mail. Our on-call Service person will call you back and assist you ASAP.

Recreational Vehicles

Higher occupancy means fewer parking spaces at Abberly, so we are re-enforce our recreational vehicle rules. We do have a designated area for residents to park trailers and boats. This area is located on Phase 1 and there are plenty of open spaces currently.

If you have a trailer or boat that is parked in the regular parking lot, you will need to call the office, 919-772-6545, to find out where to move it to. Also, be reminded that these vehicles need to have valid tags and kept in good condition (no flat tires). We are not allowing large vehicles such a larger boats or RVs to park on the property. All vehicles need to fit in one parking space. Thank you for your cooperation regarding this matter.

Air Filter Changes

The Service Team will be changing air filters in the following buildings during the month of February; Please make a note for yourselves if your building is on the list above. We ask that you kennel or secure all pets and please disarm alarm systems for that day.

We change your air filters so that your heating/air conditioning unit works more efficiently. Thank you for your cooperation.

There are salons such as Vanity Spa and Color Bar, Salon at Main St., and A Day at The Beach Tanning Salon.

You can see a list of all of the businesses that participate and if you visit our website, www.abberlyplace.com. If there are any businesses that you would like to see added, let us know and we will see what we can do. Enjoy!

Valet Dry Cleaning

This is just a reminder that we offer valet dry cleaning here at Abberly Place. The Valet Service will come by our office and pick up your items and return them to our office the next day. How’s that for service?

Time's A Tickin'

Don't let the expiration date on your lease come unnoticed! You should receive a reminder from the office as your renewal date draws near, so stop by the office for a new lease to last you through the next year. Thanks to all of our residents who have decided, once, again to remain with us.

Freshening Up

Phase 2 is getting a "facial' in the near future. In addition to re-striping the parking lots, we will also be painting all of the white columns on Phase 2. These are in the entrances of breezeways and on a lot of your patios.

Once we have the official dates, we will send out an email to notify everyone and we will post notices in the breezeways. We strive to keep the community beautiful and fresh looking so all of our residents can enjoy.

Re-striping the Parking Lots in Phase 2

In February, we will be painting the parking lots in Phase 2. Of course this will take place over a few days and will be done in sections. We will notify everyone once we find out exactly what dates this will happen.

When we do announce the dates, we expect everyone to comply by moving your vehicles to other areas while your area is being painted. This project will make Phase 2 look fresh and new again and hope that you all can appreciate that.

Phase 1 Pool Area

The Phase 1 Pool Deck will be closed for a few weeks in February due to some upgrades. We are going to be completely resurfacing the pool and very much of the pool deck area. We will be replacing tile and evening out some of the concrete. During this process, there will be noisy jack hammers, which we apologize for in advance.

To minimize the inconvenience, we will make sure that the work does not start too early in the morning and will not go into the evening hours. Please be patient with us while we make your pool area beautiful and like new again. We want you all to be proud to call Abberly Place home, and enjoy your amenities. We will announce the dates of this remodel as soon as we know the specifics.

Short Term Rental Apartments

We want to thank those of you who have taken advantage of housing your guests in our short term rental apartments. We are glad that we could accommodate them for you and hope that they enjoyed their stay with us.

However, as of February 1, we will no longer offer the one bedroom apartment for overnight guests. We will continue to have the two bedroom, located in Phase 2, available for $80/night. If you need to reserve this, please call our office at 919-772-6545, to check availability. Thanks again.

Jalapeno Popper Dip

An easy and creamy jalapeno popper dip topped with Parmesan and Panko breadcrumbs. Perfect for watching the big game!

Ingredients:

  • 2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 cup shredded Mexican blend cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan
  • 1 (4 ounce) can diced green chilies
  • 1 (4 ounce) can diced jalapenos or 4 fresh seeded jalapenos diced finely (add more if you like it hotter)
  • 1 cup Panko breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted

Instructions:

  1. Mix the first 6 ingredients together and spread the dip into a greased pie pan or a 2 quart baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, mix Panko breadcrumbs, remaining 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, and melted butter until incorporated.
  3. Sprinkle crumb mixture evenly over the dip and bake in a preheated 375 degree oven for about 20 minutes or until top is browned and the dip is bubbly.
  4. Serve with chips, crackers, or baguette slices

Compactor Areas

This is just a reminder to all residents of Abberly Place. The compactor areas for trash disposal have gotten messy over the last couple of months. We do realize that during the holidays, most people accumulate extra trash with guests visiting and so forth. Also, this a time that people purge and get rid of old items to make room for new items.

Please remember that the compactors are enclosed in the brick areas and there are specific holes that trash should be discarded in. The Phase 1 compactor has an open area with no door and the Phase 2 compactor has a door that you will need to pull open. The other areas right outside the openings are for recyclable items such as aluminum, plastic and glass. Currently, there is a separate dumpster for cardboard as well.  In the very near future, we will be converting the cardboard dumpster to an all purpose recycling container that all of the recyclable items can be placed in together. We will inform everyone when this takes place.

At no time is it okay to place items such as furniture, TVs other electronics, mattresses, etc. These items are to be taken to a landfill or donated to charity. We have to pay to have these items removed and they make the compactor area look very bad. Thanks you for abiding by the rules set by Abberly Place.

Rent vs. Buying

How many of you have said "I can't afford not to buy with the interest rates as low as they are"? It sounds counterintuitive, but low interest rates can actually make housing more expensive, not more affordable. How? Well, if low rates bring a lot of buyers, it can quickly turn into a seller's market.

In turn, sellers can demand higher prices. In effect, low interest rates can inflate the sells price of some homes. As interest rates increase, and buyer's slow down, the seller's market could turn into a buyer's market. If you paid top price for during the seller's market, you could find your self selling your house for LESS than you paid for it. The lesson here is, that while interest rates do matter, you should not feel compelled to buy just because they are low. You may be overpaying for a house just to get the lower rate.
