Community Bulletin Board

We do have an area on our website where you can list items you want to sell. If you look under resources on AbberlyPlace.com, you will see a drop down screen that will say Community Bulletin Board. From here you can list items that you are wanting to selling (including us…we have some fantastic pieces that we have removed from our models that are practically brand new).

There is a place where you can post job opportunities, events through the area, etc. It is free and we will publicize the items for you. Take advantage of this service we offer. We want to make sure that we are constantly working on things that will make life easier for you. If you have any suggestions, feel free to let us know.

Office Hours

Our office will be closed on Friday, April 3rd and on Sunday, April 5th. If you have a maintenance emergency, there will be a member of our service team on call. Just call our office and listen to the instructions. We will be here on Saturday the 4th and on Monday the 6th.

April Fools' Day

We all know that April Fools' Day, or All Fools' Day, is the first day of April. No one knows where the custom began, but some historians believe it started in France. They had a New Year's festival that was celebrated from March 25 to April 1, and they would then exchange gifts. But, later, King James IV changed the holiday to January 1 for New Years. The people that still celebrated it April 1 were called 'April fish' and sent mock presents.

NCAA Championship Game

Who still has a perfect bracket? If you do, then you are doing better then anyone else in the nation that is for sure! There were a lot of upsets early on this year which means a lot of busted brackets. On a more positive note all 3 of our local schools made it to the sweet 16 and Duke is advancing to the Final Four. Duke will match up with Michigan State while Kentucky will play Wisconsin. Who will be this year’s National Champion? Do you think Kentucky will take it all and finish with a perfect season…only time will tell!

Rent vs. Buying

In today's economy, with unpredictable lay offs and relocations, people are choosing to rent housing versus buying a home. Renting offers short term obligation for those people who are uncertain what their financial standing will be in the near future.

If your company decides to downsize or relocate, you will not be locked into a 30 year mortgage. Most apartment communities offer flexible lease terms and options to break a contract if something unfortunate, like a job loss, happens.

Also, with renting an apartment, you will get the convenience of onsite amenities and benefits such as fitness centers, swimming pools, business centers and 24 hour maintenance. You will never have to replace an appliance or do any home repairs. This saves time and money.

Football Pool/Fundraiser

Would you like to have some fun and help those that are less fortunate at the same time? Well if so, you have come to the right place. A current resident of ours is trying to coordinate a football pool/fundraiser, but they need our help. They will need at least 100 people to participate in this fundraiser in order for it to be successful. There is a small buy in for each person, but there can be huge rewards. The best reward is the money that will help those that are less fortunate. When it is all said and done there will be a total of 3000 cans of food that will be donated and also there will be 40 winter coats provided to children that need them. On top of that, there will be a cash prize each week. If this is something that you would like to be a part of or if you would like more information about the fundraiser, please contact our office and ask to speak to Brandie.

Water Bill Changes

As many of you are aware, you will no longer be paying your water bill to YES Energy Management. Moving forward, you will receive an invoice that includes your water/sewer/trash and rent all in one. It will be itemized, but the full payment will be due to Abberly Place each month.

The City of Raleigh has added a new fee to both the water and sewer. The fee is called Infrastructure Replacement Charge and it increases your monthly billing by close to $3. This change was approved by The North Carolina Utilities Commission for all customers that use The City of Raleigh water supply. We wanted you to be aware of this change and anticipate this increase. This billing change will more than likely take effect in April’s billing.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the water bill changes, please contact our office.

Pool Season

Pool season is here whether we are ready for it or not! Even though it may still be cold outside, warm weather is right away the corner. Our pools will be opening up in April and the date has not been determined just yet. We have to wait for The Wake County Inspectors to come out to inspect the pools before we can open them. Please keep in mind that there are pool rules that have to be followed.

Some, but not all rules are:

  1. No pets allowed inside the pool or the pool deck areas.
  2. No more than 2 guests at a time allowed per apartment
  3. No glass containers of any kind allowed in the pool areas
  4. No horseplay or rough housing allowed
  5. No one allowed inside the pool areas before 10:00 a.m. and after 10:00 p.m. Please let us know if you have any questions about any of the Pool Rules.

Slow Down!!

We have noticed that there has been more and more speeding through the community over the last several weeks. Residents have expressed their concerns and our staff members have also stopped cars to ask them to slow down. The speed limit throughout the community is 10 mph. There is no reason that anyone should be going over 10 mph. As you know, we have a very large community here and a large percentage of our residents here are also pet owners. This means there are usually several folks out walking their pets at any given time. Please be responsible and drive the speed limit. Thank you for your cooperation.

We have a resident that needs your help!! She has a non-profit organization locally and in Kenya. This organization helps provide shelter, food, clothing, education, and teach children entrepreneur skills. There are certain items that she is trying to take with her on her next trip to Kenya in May. If you are interested in donating items, please call our office and we can give you a detailed list (all items are inexpensive). We must receive the items by no later then May 2nd. We look forward to your phone call and remember, it always feels amazing to help someone that is less fortunate!
