Community Bulletin Board

We do have an area on our website where you can list items you want to sell. If you look under resources on AbberlyPlace.com, you will see a drop down screen that will say Community Bulletin Board. From here you can list items that you are wanting to selling (including us…we have some fantastic pieces that we have removed from our models that are practically brand new).

There is a place where you can post job opportunities, events through the area, etc. It is free and we will publicize the items for you. Take advantage of this service we offer. We want to make sure that we are constantly working on things that will make life easier for you. If you have any suggestions, feel free to let us know.

Orzo Salad with Shrimp and Feta

Ingredients:

  • 8 ounces orzo pasta (about 2 cups)
  • 1/2 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined (tails removed), coarsely chopped
  • 1/3 cup plus 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • Freshly ground pepper
  • Grated zest of 2 lemons, plus 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 4 scallions, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh mint
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh dill
  • 1 cup diced English cucumber
  • 4 ounces crumbled feta cheese
  • 3 tablespoons halved Kalamata olives

Directions:

Preheat the broiler. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook until al dente (about 2 minutes less than the label directs). Drain and rinse under cool water; shake off the excess. Transfer to a large bowl and set aside while you make the shrimp, stirring occasionally to prevent clumping.

Toss the shrimp on a baking sheet with 1 tablespoon olive oil, the garlic, and salt and pepper to taste; arrange in a single layer. Broil the shrimp, turning once, until opaque and just cooked through, 2 to 3 minutes.

Add the shrimp, lemon zest and juice, scallions, mint, dill, cucumber, feta, olives and the remaining 1/3 cup olive oil to the bowl with the pasta; toss.

Serve immediately or refrigerate, covered, up to 6 hours. (Bring to room temperature before serving.)

Patio & Balcony Areas

The Declaration of Independence

We wanted to send out a friendly reminder in regards to towels drying on your patio railing. This is an eyesore to your neighbors and also does not look good when we are showing the community to prospects. If you have any questions or concerns about this, please contact our office.

A word of warning about poison and pesticides

The summer season brings with it a lot of critters that love to get inside where it is cool – to help conquer the critter we have professional pest control available on a weekly basis if you have issues with any type of pest in your home. Orkin makes weekly preventive treatment visits and will also treat inside your home.

Additionally, please do not treat outside your apartment with any type of poison or pesticide other than something like bug spray as it can have a terrible impact on others.

For example, a resident who lives in a ground floor apartment was concerned that snakes might enter the apartment and scattered mothballs outside on the ground as a deterrent.

In this case the results were deadly to a little dog who saw a mothball and thought it looked like a fun thing to eat. The pet owner had the dog on a leash but couldn’t get to it in time to stop it from being swallowed. After a courageous battle the dog passed away. This could just as easily have been a child.

There was absolutely no intent for this to happen; it was a terrible accident with a disastrous outcome and we don’t want it to happen again so please, let us know if you need professional assistance with pest control. We will be happy to oblige.
