We do have an area on our website where you can list items you want to sell. If you look under resources on AbberlyPlace.com, you will see a drop down screen that will say Community Bulletin Board. From here you can list items that you are wanting to selling (including us…we have some fantastic pieces that we have removed from our models that are practically brand new).

There is a place where you can post job opportunities, events through the area, etc. It is free and we will publicize the items for you. Take advantage of this service we offer. We want to make sure that we are constantly working on things that will make life easier for you. If you have any suggestions, feel free to let us know.

Abberly Place Apartments December 2013 Newsletter

Dear Residents

Here's to a holly, jolly holiday time when friends and family gather to celebrate glad tidings and goodwill! As we reflect on our own fortunes, please take a moment to remember the military men and women serving far away from home, their loved ones, and less fortunate families who need our generosity. May each of our wonderful residents cherish what they have, while we cherish all of you for making your home with us!

Resident Party

We saved the best for last. Our biggest and best Resident Party of 2013, will be our Holiday Party on Monday, December 9th at the Resident Activity Center. Join us from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm for a buffet of great food, drinks and best of all, door prizes! We will have lots of great things to give away and can't wait to see who will win this year! Will you have the lucky number? You can't win if you don't show up, so we look forward to seeing you there.

Leasing Office is Closed

The Abberly office will be closed on December 24th and 25th in recognition of the holiday. We will reopen for regular hours on December 26th. Our office will also be closed on December 31st and January 1st for New Year’s. If you should have any maintenance emergency, please dial 919-772-6545 and follow the instructions for emergency maintenance.

If you need to turn in keys, drop off a lease renewal or rent check, please utilize the afterhours drop off. It is a gold slot to the right of the front door of our office.

Holiday Décor

The holiday season is in full swing and we are noticing all of the pretty decorations that residents have displayed. It's so fun to ride around the community see all of the glistening lights and pretty trees. Just remember to use caution with your decorations. 

Please turn off your lights and trees lights when you are not home and check your extension cords regularly to be sure they are plugged in tightly and are not hot. If you prefer a live tree, be sure to keep it watered to prevent it from drying out. We would not want any chance of a fire happening. Thanks to you all.

Tree Disposal

If you are one of the residents that prefers a live tree for the holiday, we would like to remind you to dispose of it properly. We will have an area beside the exterior wall of the compactor areas. If you will just pile the trees there, our landscaping company will be taking them away for us. Please do not place them inside the compactor or in the recycling areas. Thank you.

New Fire Alarm System
for Phase 1

During the first couple of weeks of December, we will be having a new fire alarm system installed for the entire Phase 1 side of the community. Being that there are 13 buildings to replace and install new phone lines for, this could take up to two weeks. 

The process should begin during the first week of December and should be completed by December 13th. They will need to test the system periodically during the process so we ask that you please bear with us during this time. We are excited to have a new system so that we can avoid all of the false alarms that we have had to deal with due to some wiring issues from the old system. This new system will operate on cellular signals as well as back up phone lines. We hope that this process will go smoothly and quickly. We appreciate your patience.

Rent vs. Buying

In todays economy, with unpredictable lay offs and relocations, people are choosing to rent housing versus buying a home. Renting offers short term obligation for those people who are uncertain what their financial standing will be in the near future. If your company decides to downsize or relocate, you will not be locked into a 30 year mortgage. Most apartment communities offer flexible lease terms and options to break a contract if something unfortunate, like a job loss, happens.

Also, with renting an apartment, you will get the convenience of onsite amenities and benefits such as fitness centers, swimming pools, business centers and 24 hour maintenance. You will never have to replace an appliance or do any home repairs. This saves time and money.

Renew Your Lease Today!

We know that you all get busy, especially during the holidays. Don’t let the expiration date of your lease agreement sneak up on you. You should get a friendly reminder from our office when it’s time to renew. If your lease expires in December or January, and you still have not renewed, please stop by or call our office for a new lease to be sent to your door as soon as possible. We appreciate you choosing Abberly Place as your home and look forward to you staying for a while longer!

On the same note, we really want thank all of our residents who renewed their leases with us. The majority of residents whose leases expired in November and December, decided to stay and sign a new lease with us. We are so happy to have you here and truly appreciate you calling Abberly Place your home. We could not ask for better residents to serve! Again, a big Thanks to all!

Abberly Place Blood Drive

TAbberly Place will be hosting our first blood drive through American Red Cross. The drive will take place at the Resident Activity Center on Wednesday, January 8th, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm. 

We are asking that residents who are willing and interested in giving blood, please sign up at our resident party on December 9th, or call our office and let us know to add you to the list. 

It is not required to sign up beforehand, however, we would like to give the people at The Red Cross an idea of how many people to plan for. Thank you in advance!

American Red Cross

The American Red Cross is the nation’s largest blood collection organization, supplying approximately 40 percent of the blood and blood products used in our country.

Our blood donors are ordinary people – high school students, factory and office workers, business executives, parents and grandparents, and people from every walk of life. 

But they share one thing – a generous spirit, a desire to give back to their community and help others. Blood donors play an integral role in the delivery of modern healthcare. 

Many lifesaving medical treatments and procedures involve blood transfusions and would not be possible without a safe and reliable blood supply.

The Red Cross is also a leader in research and testing to protect the safety of the blood supply. We were among the first to develop and implement testing for many infectious diseases including, HIV, hepatitis B and C viruses, West Nile virus, and more recently the agent of Chagas disease.

If you already donate blood, thank you! You are making a lifesaving contribution that benefits accident victims, cancer patients, surgical candidates, children with blood disorders and many others. 

If you have never donated blood, please consider doing so. Your donations are always in constant demand.

Garages and Storage Units

During the holidays, we tend to accumulate more items in our home and need to make room for guests to visit.

If you find yourself needing extra space, we offer garages (11x18) and storage units (3x5) for residents to rent on a monthly basis. The garages are currently priced at $125 and the storage are $40. Please give us call to reserve one today!

Short Term Rental Apartment

If you have company coming to visit and need a place to stay we offer a fully furnished apartment to rent by the day. It is a two bedroom home, perfect for those out of town guests that want to come and visit for a long weekend or for the holidays. 

 You can also reserve this for business partners that may have to come to the Raleigh area on business. They can stay here and enjoy the convenience of the shopping center, use all of the amenities and have easy access to I40. 

The apartment rents for only $80/night. If you would like to reserve this apartment, please call our office at 919-772-6545. There is no deposit required and payment is taken when you pick up the keys.

Car Wash Areas

Due to unpredictable temperatures dropping below freezing the car washes will remain closed during the months of December, January and February. The vacuums will still operate. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Air Filter Changes

The Service Team will be changing air filters in the buildings listed below during the month of December. Please make a note for yourselves if your building is on the list below. We ask that you kennel or secure all pets and please disarm alarm systems for that day.

We change your air filters so that your heating/air conditioning unit works more efficiently. Thank you for your cooperation.

Pressure Washing Breezeways

Due to the cold temperatures in the winter months, we will not be pressure washing during December, January or February.
