We do have an area on our website where you can list items you want to sell. If you look under resources on AbberlyPlace.com, you will see a drop down screen that will say Community Bulletin Board. From here you can list items that you are wanting to selling (including us…we have some fantastic pieces that we have removed from our models that are practically brand new).

There is a place where you can post job opportunities, events through the area, etc. It is free and we will publicize the items for you. Take advantage of this service we offer. We want to make sure that we are constantly working on things that will make life easier for you. If you have any suggestions, feel free to let us know.

Dear Residents

Here's to a holly, jolly holiday time when friends and family gather to celebrate glad tidings and goodwill! As we reflect on our own fortunes, please take a moment to remember the military men and women serving far away from home, their loved ones, and less fortunate families who need our generosity. May each of our wonderful residents cherish what they have, while we cherish all of you for making your home with us! Bellow you will see a poem that we would like to share with you:

Wishing you happiness, joy, and cheer.

And your nights enhanced by holiday light.

Resident Party

We saved the best for last! Our biggest and best Resident Party of 2014, will be our Holiday Party on Tuesday, December 16th at the Resident Activity Center. Join us from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm for a buffet of great food, drinks and best of all, door prizes! We will have lots of great things to give away and can't wait to see who will win this year! Will you have the lucky number? You can't win if you don't show up, so we look forward to seeing you there!!!

Leasing Office is Closed

The Abberly office will be closed on December 24th and 25th in recognition of the holiday. We will reopen for regular hours on December 26th. Our office will also be closed on December 31st and January 1st for New Year’s. If you should have any maintenance emergency, please dial 919-772-6545 and follow the instructions for emergency maintenance.

If you need to turn in keys, drop off a lease renewal or rent check, please utilize the afterhours drop off. It is a gold slot to the right of the front door of our office.

Holiday Décor

The holiday season is in full swing and we are noticing all of the pretty decorations that residents have displayed. It's so fun to ride around the community see all of the glistening lights and pretty trees. Just remember to use caution with your decorations.

Please turn off your lights and trees lights when you are not home and check your extension cords regularly to be sure they are plugged in tightly and are not hot. If you prefer a live tree, be sure to keep it watered to prevent it from drying out. We would not want any chance of a fire happening. Thanks to you all.

Tree Disposal

If you are one of the residents that prefers a live tree for the holiday, we would like to remind you to dispose of it properly. We will have an area beside the exterior wall of the compactor areas. If you will just pile the trees there, our landscaping company will be taking them away for us. Please do not place them inside the compactor or in the recycling areas. Thank you.

Time to Reminisce,
Rejoice and Relax

The beauty and coziness of winter is all around, giving you the perfect atmosphere to look back at your accomplishments this year. Here’s a simple way to do it:

    ~ Treat yourself to your favorite warm drink (hot chocolate, anyone?) wear a cozy outfit and take a breather.
    ~ Assess what you have enjoyed this year and all the things that you did “right”.
    ~ Plan what you would like to do in 2015 and what habits from this year you’d like to continue into the new year.

Rent vs. Buying

“Should I continue to rent or should I buy a house?” Often time we hear residents say, “I could buy a house and have a lower monthly payment.”

This is somewhat true if you are only considering the actual mortgage payment. However, few prospective owners truly appreciate and understand how expensive annual maintenance on a house can be.

On average, you should expect to spend 1% to 2% of your house’s value annually on maintenance costs. Owning also requires a different kind of budgeting discipline.

You have to be prepared for the unexpected, like the Air Conditioning/Heating unit having to be replaced, plumbing issues, appliances that decide to stop working, etc. 

These are all unexpected costs that can catch a homeowner off guard. Renters, on the other hand, have the convenience of knowing exactly what their monthly housing is going to be.

Also, if they have a maintenance issue, they can call the Service Team and have it taken care of for free!

Pick Up After Your Pet

To all of our residents that are pet owners, PLEASE BE A RESPONSIBLE PET OWNER AND PICK UP AFTER YOUR PET! 

This has gotten out of control once again. We are not trying to ruin the holiday spirit and act like Scrooge, but this is something that will not be tolerated. 

If you do not pick up after your pet and a member of our staff witnesses this, you will be charged $25. Remember, about 90% of our staff live here on site so there are always eyes that are watching you! 

It is a privilege to have a pet, so please keep that in mind. It is unfair to those who do pick up after their pets and it is an eyesore to the community. Thank you so much for your cooperation.

Car Wash Areas

Due to unpredictable temperatures dropping below freezing the car washes will remain closed during the months of December, January and February. The vacuums will still operate. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Critical Changes to Online Payments and Service Requests

The Abberly Place team, along with the entire Apartment Living portfolio of HH Hunt has undergone a transition to our new business operations software. This new process will help streamline business processes and make the office and service team more efficient to better able to serve you. 

One of the biggest changes that will affect you is our resident portal. We will be transitioning from the current portal to the new upgraded Rent Café Resident Portal the middle of December. We will alert you all once this new service is online. 

You will need to create a new username and password to access Rent Cafe. Once you created this new login…you will be able to access the portal and see all of your current information. You will still have the same options to pay your account balance using credit card, debit card or e-check. Your current rent for December will integrate but all future payments will not in the current system. 

If you have a reoccurring payment currently set up in the current resident portal, it is CRITICAL THAT YOU CANCEL THIS SERVICE NOW. The previous portal does NOT integrate with our new software and payment will not be issued to your property. Please take a few moments to make the change. The new Rent Café Resident Portal will also allow you to place online service requests for your home as well. 

We think that you will love the convenience of the new resident portal. If you should have questions, please contact the office, and we will be more than happy to assist you.

Food Drive

We are hosting a food drive here at Abberly Place for the holiday season. All of the canned goods that we collect will help the Raleigh Rescue Mission. We will have a big box here in the office that we will fill with different types of canned goods. We are asking that each of you help us contribute to this wonderful cause. You have not heard the best part. If you bring in at least 5 cans of food to our resident party, we will give you an extra raffle ticket! This means that your chances for winning a prize will be even better!! The resident party in on December 16th so make sure that you come wearing a smile, ready to eat, and with a bag full of canned goods!!

Pineapple Cheese Ball


  • 2 packages (8 ounces each) cream cheese, softened
  • 1 can (8 ounces) crushed pineapple, drained
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped green bell pepper, or mixture of green and red bell pepper
  • 3 tablespoons finely chopped green onion
  • 2 teaspoons seasoned salt, or to taste
  • 2 cups chopped pecans, divided


  1. In a bowl combine cream cheese, drained crushed pineapple, chopped bell pepper, chopped green onion, seasoned salt, and 1 cup of the chopped pecans. Mix well to blend ingredients.
  2. Chill in refrigerator until firm then shape into a ball. Return to the refrigerator until serving time.
  3. Just before serving roll the cheese ball in remaining cup of pecans.
  4. Serve with assorted crackers.
  5. Makes about 3 cups of cheese spread.

Air Filter Changes

The Service Team will be changing air filters in the buildings listed below during the month of December. Please make a note for yourselves if your building is on the list below. We ask that you kennel or secure all pets and please disarm alarm systems for that day.

We change your air filters so that your heating/air conditioning unit works more efficiently. Thank you for your cooperation.

12/11 – 1300 Plantation Pine Circle

As many of you know, we have become Survey Savvy. We have a survey that we send out to people who have recently moved into Abberly, moved out of Abberly, a Service Request Survey and a general Resident Survey.

Pressure Washing Breezeways

Due to the cold temperatures in the winter months, we will not be pressure washing during December, January or February.
