Community Bulletin Board

We do have an area on our website where you can list items you want to sell. If you look under resources on AbberlyPlace.com, you will see a drop down screen that will say Community Bulletin Board. From here you can list items that you are wanting to selling (including us…we have some fantastic pieces that we have removed from our models that are practically brand new).

There is a place where you can post job opportunities, events through the area, etc. It is free and we will publicize the items for you. Take advantage of this service we offer. We want to make sure that we are constantly working on things that will make life easier for you. If you have any suggestions, feel free to let us know.

7 Most Nutritious Fruits You Can Eat

#7 Grapefruit (White)
Although white grapefruit is not as nutrient-dense as its cousin (with a nutrient density score of 10.47) the pink or ruby red grapefruit, one half of a grapefruit is only 39 calories and contains between 65 and 75 percent of your daily dosage of vitamin C.

#6 Blackberries
Blackberries not only taste delicious, they’re also one of the most nutrient rich fruits you can eat, with a CDC score of 11.39. A 2009 study published in the medical journal Nutritional Neuroscience proved that blackberries can significantly improve cognitive function. Plus, they are packed with omega-3s and are heart-healthy, too.

#5 Grapefruit (Pink or Red)
Next up, we have the even healthier pink or ruby red grapefruits, which boast a CDC score of 11.64. With their distinctive, bright flesh, the pink and red grapefruits amplify the white grapefruit’s health factor. According to the FDA, one half of a grapefruit contains 100 percent of your vitamin C for the day and 160 milligrams of potassium.

#4 Limes
You put the lime in the coconut and drink them both up. But when it comes to this superfruit, you may want to skip out on the coconut and eat the lime by itself. Limes scored a 12.23 on the nutrient density ranking, and are of course packed with vitamin C. A 2013 Study published in the ARYA Atherosclerosis journal also found that lime consumption can reduce the risk of heart disease.

#3 Oranges
Another healthy citrus fruit is the orange. Eating just one orange provides 130 percent of your daily dose of vitamin C and 250 milligrams of potassium, according to the FDA. Oranges are also rich in flavonoids, which have anti-inflammatory properties and strong antioxidant effects, according to Medical News Today. Another study proved that eating oranges regularly can reduce stroke risk in women.

#2 Strawberries
Strawberries are the healthiest berry of them all, at least according to the CDC. With a nutrient density score of 17.59, strawberries should definitely be high on your summer grocery list. The FDA indicates that strawberries actually contain more vitamin C than any citrus fruit, and also contain 170 milligrams of potassium. They’re high in antioxidants and flavonoids, meaning that they are linked to heart disease and diabetes prevention.

#1 Lemons
You may be surprised to learn that the most nutrient-dense power fruit of all is the lemon. The lemon ranks above winter squash, lettuce, and sweet potatoes in terms of nutrient density, with a score of 18.72, according to the CDC. Loaded with vitamin C and fiber, the only reason you shouldn’t be sucking on lemons daily is that they can wear down the enamel on your teeth.

Abberly Place Pool Party!

Our annual pool party is right around the corner! The pool party will be on Tuesday, July 21st from 6-8 at the phase 2 pool. Summer Fower

Lantana - Blooms are clustered atop dark green foliage in yellow, orange, red, lavender, white and bi-colors are fragrant. Birds and butterflies love Lantana. It needs to be planted in full sun and requires little water once established. Pretty as a shrub, groundcover, or in pots.

Lantanas look beautiful in pots and this will add some color to your patio this summer. They love the heat and do not require a lot of water.

Top 5 Movies Coming Out In July

#5 – Terminator: Genisys ( July 3rd)
#4 – Pixels (July 24th)
#3 – Minions (July 10th)
#2 – Magic Mike XXL (July 3rd)

Summer Fun

Are you already running out of ideas to keep everyone busy for the summer? Short on funds and want to do something locally that won’t break the bank?

Well, there are tons of things going on this summer in Wake and Johnston County that can get you out of the house and some are even FREE….

Whether you want to take a Historic Tour of Raleigh and learn more about how “oak city” got it’s roots or if you enjoy outside concerts, you can find something to do in the area. There are great summer camps and parks in the area as well.

Lake Benson Park and White Deer Park are two wonderful parks with walking trails and picnic areas and they are both located here in Garner.

Just go to garnernc.gov for more information. You can also visit events.triangle.com, to locate other local events this summer.

Air Filter Changes

The Service Team will be changing air filters in the buildings listed below during the month of July. Please make a note for yourselves if your building is on the list below. We ask that you kennel or secure all pets and please disarm alarm systems for that day.

We change your air filters so that your heating/air conditioning unit works more efficiently. Thank you for your cooperation.

7/9 – 300 Abberly Crest Blvd.

Poolside Relaxing

We are happy to see all of our residents enjoying the warm weather and the pools at Abberly. It’s always a popular spot for the summer. We want to remind you that if you chose to use the grills, please respect others by cleaning off the cooking surface for the next person. Also, there are pool rules posted at each pool and we ask that you take time to read them and abide by them.

Some of the rules that we feel need to be addressed directly are:

  • NO GLASS OF ANY KIND INSIDE THE POOL AREAS - We are still having problems with people following this rule. If the Wake County Inspector shows up to do a surprise inspection and he finds someone with glass, he could CLOSE THE POOL FOR THE REST OF THE SUMMER!
  • No more than 2 guests (per apartment) at the pool or any of the amenities.
  • No outside music devices, such as radios, are allowed. We have music playing at the pools that is appropriate for all ages so that everyone can enjoy it. IPods and MPs players are fine with ear buds.
  • No one under the age of 16 is allowed at the pools without an adult.

The biggest thing that we are noticed is residents under the age of 16 going to the pool without an adult. We are not sure if you are aware of this, or if they are sneaking to the pool without you knowing. We are taking this very seriously and expect that you will as well. If you see someone under the age of 16 at the pool without an adult, please notify our office immediately. Thank you!

    Breezeway Pressure Washing

Our Service Team will continue to pressure wash breezeways throughout the summer and fall, weather permitting. The July schedule is listed below. On the day that your building is scheduled, please remove anything from outside your front door to prevent damage and place a towel just inside your font door to keep water out of your foyer. Thank you all for your cooperation in keeping the community beautiful.

    7/8 – 300 Abberly Crest Blvd.
    7/9 – 200 Abberly Crest Blvd.

    Rent vs. Buying

In today's economy, with unpredictable lay offs and relocations, people are choosing to rent housing versus buying a home. Renting offers short term obligation for those people who are uncertain what their financial standing will be in the near future.

If your company decides to downsize or relocate, you will not be locked into a 30 year mortgage. Most apartment communities offer flexible lease terms and options to break a contract if something unfortunate, like a job loss, happens.

Also, with renting an apartment, you will get the convenience of onsite amenities and benefits such as fitness centers, swimming pools, business centers and 24 hour maintenance. You will never have to replace an appliance or do any home repairs. This saves time and money.

We are happy that you all have decided to rent with Abberly for at least a little while and hope that you all will stay for a long time to come!
