Community Bulletin Board

We do have an area on our website where you can list items you want to sell. If you look under resources on AbberlyPlace.com, you will see a drop down screen that will say Community Bulletin Board. From here you can list items that you are wanting to selling (including us…we have some fantastic pieces that we have removed from our models that are practically brand new).

There is a place where you can post job opportunities, events through the area, etc. It is free and we will publicize the items for you. Take advantage of this service we offer. We want to make sure that we are constantly working on things that will make life easier for you. If you have any suggestions, feel free to let us know.


Abberly Place Apartments May 2013 Newsletter

Abberly Idol Night

Think you can sing? Want to show us what you’ve got? Come to the Resident Activity Center at 6:00 pm, on 5/22/13 for pizza and beverages and get ready to go before our judges to see who will win the title of “Abberly Idol” , our very own version of American Idol. Abberly Idol had been a huge success in past years so we thought we would bring it back.

We will have a DJ with a karaoke machine and books full of songs to choose from. No pressure, just lots of fun and laughs.

We need several contestants to make this a success, so please don’t be shy!

The winner will receive a $200 credit toward June’s rent and the runner up will get a $100 credit toward June’s rent. So, as Randy would say, “Who’s in it to win it?”


Holiday Hours

Our office will be closed on May 27th in recognition of Memorial Day. We hope you all have a good holiday!

Air Filter Changes

The Service Team will be changing air filters in the following buildings during the month of May; Please make a note for yourselves if your building is on the list above. We ask that you kennel or secure all pets and please disarm alarm systems for that day.

We change your air filters so that your heating/air conditioning unit works more efficiently. Thank you for your cooperation.

The Pools are now OPEN!

We are happy to announce that the pools have been inspected and are open for swimming. We are excited that pool season is here and everyone can now enjoy them.

Please remember that there are pool rules posted at each pool and we ask that you take time to read them and abide by them.

Some, but not all rules are:

  1. No pets allowed inside the pool or the pool deck areas.
  2. No more than 2 guests at a time allowed per apartment.
  3. ABSOLUTELY NO glass containers of any kind allowed in the pool areas.
  4. No horseplay or rough housing allowed or throwing items in the pool.
  5. No one allowed inside the pool areas before 10:00 a.m. and after 10:00 p.m.

Please let us know if you have any questions about any of the Pool Rules.


Memorial Day

Every year on the last Monday in May, United States citizens observe Memorial Day, a holiday which honors all those who have died in military service to our country. Originally called Decoration Day, Memorial Day began as a way to commemorate soldiers who died in the Civil War in service to the Union Army. 

It became Memorial Day after the First World War, and it now honors all men and women who have died in military service, in all branches of the U.S. military. This federal holiday has a rich, fascinating history, and it holds enormous significance in the lives of so many Americans. This is the perfect day to say Thank You to all of those brave soldiers who serve our country.

You’re bound to hit a crossing every now and then, and our friendly staff is just the ticket when you need assistance.

Grilled Mahi Mahi with Tomatillo and Mango Salsa

Prep Time: 25 min
Cook Time: 10 min
Level: Easy
Serves: 4 servings

Ingredients:

  • 4 (6-ounce) mahi mahi, skin removed
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper
  • Tomatillo and Mango Salsa, recipe follows

Directions:

  • Preheat a grill. 
  • Lay fish in a plate sprinkle with lime juice, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Place fillet on hot grill cook on each side for 4 minutes. Serve with Tomatillo and Mango Salsa.

Tomatillo and Mango Salsa:

  • 1 semi-ripe mango, peeled and seeded, plus 1 semi-ripe mango, peeled, seeded, and small diced
  • 1 jalapeno, seeded
  • 2 limes, juiced
  • 1 orange, juiced
  • 10 medium sized tomatillos peeled, washed, and diced finely
  • 1 medium ripe tomato, finely diced
  • 1 red onion, finely diced
  • 1/2 cup chopped cilantro
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper

Begin by peeling 1 of the mangos removing all the flesh possible and discarding the seed. Place the mango pieces in a blender with jalapeno, lime juice and orange juice. Blend until smooth and place in large bowl.

Meanwhile peel and remove flesh from the remaining mango and finely dice.

To finish the salsa, add the tomatillos, tomato, red onion, cilantro, and the diced mango all to the pureed mango mixture season with salt and pepper. (Best served grilled fish or white shrimp).

Yield: 3 cups


Pick Up Behind Your Dog!

We have noticed a HUGE problem with residents NOT picking up behind their dogs.

It has gotten so bad that others cannot even walk through the grass to pick up their dog's poop, without stepping in someone else's.

This problem exists throughout the property on Phase 1 and Phase 2 and is all over the place.

The worst part of this is that we have doggie poop stands in several areas and people are allowing their dog to go beside the stand and still not picking it up.

Not only is this unsightly and unsanitary, it is also plain lazy, ridiculous, irresponsible and against the law.

We are encouraging all residents to watch carefully and let us know if you see anyone not picking up behind their dogs. TAKE A PICTURE OF THE GUILTY PERSON AND OR DOG AND SEND IT TO US.

Or, feel free to call and leave a message or drop us an anonymous note in the drop box, with a description of the person and/or dog and what building they walk into.

Another issue that has been brought to our attention is that some pet owners are "walking" their dogs without a leash.

This is also against the rules and against the law. Anyone seen with a dog off the leash will immediately be fined and if it occurs a second time, you will be asked to remove the dog from the community.

Everyone should remember that having a pet in the community is simply a privilege and can be taken away at any time.

If we find that you are being irresponsible with your pet, we will "evict" him or her from the community and pet fees are not refundable.

Thank you all for your help in correcting this problem and a big THANK YOU to those responsible pet owners who DO follow the rules.
