Community Bulletin Board

We do have an area on our website where you can list items you want to sell. If you look under resources on AbberlyPlace.com, you will see a drop down screen that will say Community Bulletin Board. From here you can list items that you are wanting to selling (including us…we have some fantastic pieces that we have removed from our models that are practically brand new).

There is a place where you can post job opportunities, events through the area, etc. It is free and we will publicize the items for you. Take advantage of this service we offer. We want to make sure that we are constantly working on things that will make life easier for you. If you have any suggestions, feel free to let us know.


Abberly Place Apartments May 2014 Newsletter

The Pools are now OPEN!

We are happy to announce that the pools have been inspected and are open for swimming. We are excited that pool season is here and everyone can now enjoy them.

Please remember that there are pool rules posted at each pool and we ask that you take time to read them and abide by them.

Some, but not all rules are:

  • No pets allowed inside the pool or the pool deck areas.
  • No more than 2 guests at a time allowed per apartment.
  • ABSOLUTELY NO glass containers of any kind allowed in the pool areas.
  • No horseplay or rough housing allowed or throwing items in the pool.
  • No one allowed inside the pool areas before 10:00 a.m. and after 10:00 p.m.

Please let us know if you have any questions about any of the Pool Rules.


Abberly Idol

Do you think you can sing? Do you think that your voice is one of a kind? If so, you may be the next Abberly Idol. Please join us on Tuesday, May 20th for all the fun! This event will take place in the Resident Activity Center at 6:00. 

We will have food, beverages, and some live entertainment for you! We will have a DJ and karaoke machine so you can pick out your favorite song. This is a laid back event that has been very fun and successful in the past. 

The winner will receive $200 off of June’s Rent, so start practicing now! Please call our office or email us at leasingoffice@abberlyplace.com to reserve your spot.


Memorial Day

Memorial Day, an American holiday observed on the last Monday of May, honors men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. Originally known as Decoration Day, it originated in the years following the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971. 

Many Americans observe Memorial Day by visiting cemeteries or memorials, holding family gatherings and participating in parades. Unofficially, at least, it marks the beginning of summer.


Holiday Hours

Our office will be closed on May 26th in recognition of Memorial Day.

Trash vs. Recycling

We wanted to include an article this month about the trash and recycling areas. It appears that some residents may be confused and not know where to put their trash. The green dumpsters, which are for recycling only, are constantly overflowing with trash. This area is not meant for trash, it is there for recycling only. 

The trash compactor is actually right beside the green dumpsters enclosed within the brick walls. We have arranged for Waste Industries to come out 3 times a week to help control this situation. If you have any questions or concerns then please contact our office at 919-772-6545.


Patios and Decks

For those of you who do have an outside living area such as a patio or deck, you are responsible for keeping that clean and uncluttered. If you need to clean your patio area, please do so with a damp cloth or sponge and avoid dumping large amounts of water that runs down to the patio or deck below.

Outside areas are not to be used as storage for things other than “normal” patio items such as furniture, flower pots and decorative items. You need to also avoid putting several things out in the grass/yard areas, because this makes it difficult for out landscapers to do their job.

If you store a grill on the patio, you must have the gas tank disconnected at all times and you are not allowed by law to use the grill within 10 feet of any building structure. Thank you all for keeping your areas tidy.


Water Bill Payments

As you all know, your water bill comes from YES Energy Management and is billed monthly. You should send your payment directly to YES or you can go to their website and pay online. That website is www.yesnavitas.com.

If you get behind on your water bills, and become 60 days delinquent, your payment can be made payable to Abberly Place for the complete amount owed.

Please note that if your account does become 60 days delinquent, all Abberly Place amenities will be restricted including the pools and RAC. Please feel free to call our office if you have any questions about your water bill.

Red Skin Potato Salad

Makes: 12 servings

Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds clean/scrubbed new red potatoes
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 pound of bacon
  • 1 onion finely chopped
  • 1 stalk of celery finely chopped
  • 2 cups of mayonnaise
  • Salt and Pepper to taste

Directions:

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add potatoes and cook until tender but still firm, about 15 minutes. Drain and set in the refrigerator to cool.
  2. Place eggs in a saucepan and cover with cold water. Bring water to a boil and immediately remove from heat. Cover and let eggs stand in hot water for 10 to 12 minutes. Remove from hot water, cool, peel and chop.
  3. Place bacon in a large, deep skillet. Cook over medium high heat until evenly brown. Drain, crumble and set aside.
  4. Chop the cooled potatoes, leaving skin on. Add to a large bowl, along with the eggs, bacon, onion and celery. Add mayonnaise, salt and pepper to taste. Chill for an hour before serving.

Animals and Caged Pets

We have received a few complaints about “caged animals” being on the patio. If you have an animal that stays in a cage (rabbit, hamster, gerbil, ect.) they do not need to be on the patio, they need to stay inside your apartment home. 

Shavings from the cage could fall onto the patio underneath yours, so this is why we are asking you keep them inside. Also, if you are a pet owner and let your dog/cat on your patio, please make sure that you are on the patio to supervise them. 

If they are left on the patio for long periods of time without supervision, they could begin to bark or even have an accident on the patio and we need to avoid this situation all together. Thank you for your cooperation.


Construction Projects

As many of you may already know, we have had our fair share of construction projects happening at Abberly Place over the past few weeks. There have been modifications made to first floor apartments, changes made to the parking lots, painting, and several other things. We really appreciate your patience during this process and we wanted to send you all a big THANK YOU! Everything should be back to normal within the next few weeks.


Rent vs. Buying

Air Filter Changes

The Service Team will be changing air filters in the following buildings during the month of May; Please make a note for yourselves if your building is on the list. We ask that you kennel or secure all pets and please disarm alarm systems for that day.

We change your air filters so that your heating/air conditioning unit works more efficiently. Thank you for your cooperation.

Breezeway Pressure Washing

Our Service Team will be pressure washing the following buildings during the month of April. Please take note if your building is on the list. We ask that you remove anything outside your front door area and to place a towel on the floor inside your front door to prevent water from coming in. Thank you.
