Community Bulletin Board

We do have an area on our website where you can list items you want to sell. If you look under resources on AbberlyPlace.com, you will see a drop down screen that will say Community Bulletin Board. From here you can list items that you are wanting to selling (including us…we have some fantastic pieces that we have removed from our models that are practically brand new).

There is a place where you can post job opportunities, events through the area, etc. It is free and we will publicize the items for you. Take advantage of this service we offer. We want to make sure that we are constantly working on things that will make life easier for you. If you have any suggestions, feel free to let us know.

We would like to wish all of our residents a Happy Thanksgiving. We are thankful for each and every one of you. We hope that your Thanksgiving is full of laughter, great memories and of course, GREAT food!

The Service Team will be changing air filters in the buildings listed below during the month of November. Please make a note for yourselves if your building is on the list below. We ask that you kennel or secure all pets and please disarm alarm systems for that day.

We change your air filters so that your heating/air conditioning unit works more efficiently. Thank you for your cooperation.

Holiday Parade

The 2017 WRAL Raleigh Holiday Parade will be held Saturday, November 18, 2017. Join us for the largest Holiday Parade between Washington, DC and Atlanta. The parade begins at 9:40 a.m. and will be about an hour in a half long. Here are some details about the parade:

  • Begins on Hillsborough Street at St. Mary's Street
  • Proceeds to the State Capitol
  • Turns right onto Salisbury Street
  • Turns left onto Morgan St.
  • Turns right onto Fayetteville St
  • and continues to Lenoir Street where it disbands

If this does not put you in the Holiday Spirit then we are not sure what will. Go ahead and mark your calendars because you will not want to miss this event!

Breezeway Pressure Washing

Our Service Team will be pressure washing breezeways in the following buildings in November. We pressure wash the breezeways and stairwells only. Patios and decks are not including in this routine cleaning.

If you would like to clean your patio or deck area, we ask that you use a broom and a damp cloth with mild cleaning solution. Please do not dump water or cleaning products on the deck if you live on the upper levels. We do not want your below neighbors to be inconvenienced with water on their belongings.

On the day that your breezeway is scheduled to be cleaned, we ask that you remove anything outside your front door that you do not want to get wet.

Also, it is a good idea to place a towel at the base of your door just inside to keep water from forming a puddle inside. Thanks to all of you for helping us keep Abberly Place beautiful!

Phase 1

11/7 – 1800 Plantation Pine Circle
11/9 – 1600 Plantation Pine Circle

Phase 2

11/14 – 1600 Tumbling Stone Way
11/16 – 1400 Tumbling Stone Way

Canned Goods For The Holiday's

It is that time of the year again! It is so hard to believe that the holidays are approaching and they are right around the corner. Last year, we collected canned goods to donate to the Garner Area Missions and this event was a huge success.

If you donate at least 5 cans of food, you will receive one ticket that will enter you into our drawing for our holiday party in December.  You will receive 1 ticket per 5 cans of food and the maximum amount of tickets we can give 1 person (or 1 household) is 5 tickets.

For example, to receive 5 tickets, you would need to donate 25 cans of food. If you choose to donate more than 25 cans of food, that is perfectly fine and we are sure that the Garner Area Members Team will be very appreciative.

Please feel free to start bringing canned goods by our office anytime!

Office Closed

Our office will be closed on Thursday, November 23rd and on Friday, November 24th for the Thanksgiving Holiday. We will operate on normal business hours on the weekend of November 25th.

12 Days of Fitness

We have some very exciting news! We have partnered with Tony Cummings, a personal trainer, to host the first ever 12 Days of Fitness. Tony is very excited about this event and says that you are all in for a real treat! Here is a note from Tony: Greetings all! I started a program about 7yrs ago called the “12 Days of Fitness”. The concept of the program is that we would work out 12 straight days starting Dec 12th through Dec 23rd leading up to the Holiday Break. The program is based off a scoring system in which you will start with 100 points and lose points for the following:

  1. Attendance
  2. Being Late
  3. Completion of exercises
  4. Completion of the program
  5. Leaving halfway through the workout

At the beginning of the program, everyone will start with 100 points. Points will be deducted by missing one of the four goals set for the event. The person with the highest points at the end of the 12 days will win a nice Holiday Gift. You will sign up by calling the Abberly Place office. The deadline from signing up will be on December 8th. There will be a $5 cover charge for this event and I will collect that on Day 1, December 12th. We realize that there will be different fitness levels attending the “12 Days of Fitness”. You may not be the fastest, strongest or have the most endurance but your overall effort is just as valuable to be a top contender.

On the 1st day of class, you can expect minor work and you may say “oh this is it, this is nothing”

On the 2nd day of class, you will do what you did the first day and the present workout

On the 3rd day of class, you will do the 1st-day workout the 2nd-day workout and the present workout

Now you get the hint.

This is a fun way to challenge yourself. If you are ready for the toughest fitness challenge you WILL EVER DO then join us for the “12 Days of Fitness”. I hope to see you there!!

Veterans Day

While many realize that Veterans Day, which always falls on November 11, is a day to honor our Veterans, few realize the historical significance behind the day. Veterans Day originated as Armistice Day and marked the end of hostilities of World War I that occurred at the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month. Therefore, the day is always recognized on November 11th, regardless of the day of the week the 11th falls on. In 1919, President Wilson commemorated the first Armistice Day with these words:

To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country's service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show her sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations…"

We would like to thank each and every one of our residents that have served and who are serving our country. We thank you for your sacrifices, love, and loyalty that you have to this county…The United States of America! We would also like to thank Eric Bogacki, our Assistant Service Manager, for his service as Well as Tarance Williams, our Groundskeeper.

Heat

With the colder temperatures approaching, some of you may have already switched from AC to Heat. We just wanted to let everyone know that when you first use your heat, it is normal to smell a burning smell. This comes from all of the dust that has been sitting on the heating coils through the summer. It may even set your smoke detectors off…this is normal as well. We just wanted to send out this friendly reminder so that no one is alarmed if this happens to you. If you have any questions about this, please contact our office!

Fall Back (Daylight Savings Time Ends)

It is that time again where we set our clocks back. This year daylight savings time will end at 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 5th. Whether you are staying in to catch up on some sleep or going out for a night on the town, make sure you set your clock back! We all love that extra hour of sleep right?!
