Community Bulletin Board

We do have an area on our website where you can list items you want to sell. If you look under resources on AbberlyPlace.com, you will see a drop down screen that will say Community Bulletin Board. From here you can list items that you are wanting to selling (including us…we have some fantastic pieces that we have removed from our models that are practically brand new).

There is a place where you can post job opportunities, events through the area, etc. It is free and we will publicize the items for you. Take advantage of this service we offer. We want to make sure that we are constantly working on things that will make life easier for you. If you have any suggestions, feel free to let us know.

Trick or Treat

It’s Halloween time and we are excited to have our first fall Resident Party. “Trick” us with your best disguise or just come for the “Treats” of pizza, cookies and candy. This “spooktacular” event will be held at the Resident Activity Center, on October 28th , from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. We will have a costume contest with great prizes so dress to impress!

Leasing Office is Closed

The office will be closed on Wednesday, October 23rd for a company function. We will reopen on Thursday with normal business hours. If you should have any maintenance emergency, please dial 919-772-6545 and follow the instructions for emergency maintenance. If you need to turn in keys, drop off a lease renewal or rent check, please utilize the afterhours drop off. It is a gold slot to the right of the front door.

Fall Landscaping Changes

As the leaves change, so do the flowers through out the community. You will notice in the next couple weeks we will be transitioning to fall/winter flowers. We will also begin aerating and over seeding through the community next week.

Don’t be alarmed by the cork shaped plugs through out, it is a necessary process to keep everything green and pretty. We will also be touching up mulch through the community too. We love keeping Abberly Place green!

Renew Your Lease Today!

We know that you all get busy and sometimes things slip through the cracks. Don’t let the expiration date on your lease sneak up on you. You should get a friendly reminder from our office when it’s time to renew.

If your lease expires in September or October and you still have not renewed, please stop by or call our office for a new lease to be sent to your door as soon as possible. We appreciate you choosing Abberly Place as your home and look forward to you staying for a while longer!

On the same note, we really want thank all of our residents who renewed their leases with us. The majority of residents whose leases expired in July and August, decided to stay and sign a new lease with us.

We are so happy to have you here and truly appreciate you calling Abberly Place your home. We could not ask for better residents to serve! Again, a big Thanks to all!

Renting Vs. Buying

According the National Association of Realtors, 5 to 6 million families will become new renting households in the next 10 years.

Find your perfect apartment now!

It’s just one more piece of evidence that shows renting is on the rise — and the trend away from home ownership is here to stay. But why? We explore some of the obvious — and not so obvious — reasons why Americans are choosing to forgo the housing market and become perma-renters.

Renting is the new buying

For many Americans, it seems that renting really is the new buying. In a post-recession economy, one might expect that renting has become popular because more people simply cannot obtain mortgages.

According to at least one real estate survey, that’s not necessarily true. Less than one third of renters cited an inability to get a mortgage as a reason to continue renting. 43 percent of renters said that they just don’t want to own homes.

Another 39 percent reported that they plan to continue renting because they enjoy it. For these Americans, a renting preference is likely driven by the flexibility and amenities that renting offers.

It’s easier to move when you want, convenient to have a landlord who takes care of repairs, and nice to be able to afford living in the neighborhood you prefer.

For many renters in cities where the cost of living is high, renting allows them the option of choosing neighborhoods where they couldn’t afford to buy. Renting can be a realistic, reasonable long-term choice that allows for an enviable lifestyle.

Personal reasons to rent

There are also personal and philosophical reasons why it’s better to rent rather than buy a home. Freedom and flexibility are often cited by younger renters as reasons why they prefer a lease over a mortgage. While the idea of putting down roots and building a family nest through home ownership appeals to some, others see home ownership as a trap, a limiting life choice that locks them into a 30-year mortgage agreement and keeps them from moving around and exploring life.

For some, renting also means having more time to yourself. Have a broken dishwasher? Just call the apartment community maintenance department, and they’ll be up to fix it in a few hours — with no time or money spent on the renter’s behalf. Home maintenance is time-consuming and stressful, and renters enjoy knowing that the stress of tending to home maintenance doesn’t fall directly on them.

For these reasons and more, renting is becoming a very appealing lifestyle. The idea of home ownership as a rite of passage and a symbol that one has become an adult no longer holds true for everyone. While there are still many positive aspects to home ownership, there are just as many reasons to rent, instead!

Apple Nut Bread

Prep: 15 min.
Bake: 1 hour + cooling

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons sugar, divided
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

Pressure Washing Breezeways

The Service Team will be pressure washing breezeways in the following buildings in October. We pressure wash the breezeways and stairwells only.

Patios and decks are not including in this routine cleaning. If you would like to clean your patio or deck area, we ask that you use a broom and a damp cloth with mild cleaning solution.

Please do not dump water or cleaning products on the deck if you live on the upper levels. We do not want your below neighbors to be inconvenienced with water on their belongings.

On the day that your breezeway is scheduled to be cleaned, we ask that you remove anything outside your front door that you do not want to get wet.

Also, it is a good idea to place a towel at the base of your door just inside to keep water from forming a puddle inside. Thanks to all of you for helping us keep Abberly beautiful!
