Garner Volunteer Fire and Rescue will be hosting their annual Fireman’s Day event on Oct. 4, drawing hundreds of residents for a day of music, food, a parade of firetrucks, a controlled burn, cash lotto for the adults, and fun and games for the kids. As many of you know, Abberly Place has restricted breeds for certain dogs. There are certain dogs that we do not allow to live/visit our community. We have recently had a few different occasions where a restricted breed has been spotted on our property.
If you have a restricted breed living here please make sure that you remove the pet immediately. If you see someone else that has a restricted breed, please contact our office. The restricted breeds are listed bellow:
Pittbulls (American Pittbull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Bull Terrier)
Walk Your Dog A Thon
We are excited to announce that we will be hosting a Walk Your Dog A Thon! We know that we have several dog owners here at Abberly Place and as a pet owner, we love to showcase our fur babies every chance we get.
This event will be held right here in our community and we would love for you to participate. This event will be held on November 22nd at 10:00 a.m. We will charge an entry fee of $12 per person.
This will include a free T-Shirt and refreshments after the walk. Also, we can not forget about our 4 legged friends…we will have a special treat for them as well!
We will also have someone that will be offering a free ZUMBA Class after the walk for those of you that would like participate. We will also be taking photographs of you and your pet for a very small fee if you are interested. The organization will have Art Work displayed in our Resident Activity Center that you can purchase as well.
All of the money collected will go towards a Non-Profit Organization called Kingdom Advancement. This organization was introduced to us by a current resident. She is very passionate about helping people and has single handily helped build this organization to be the best that it can be.
Kingdom Advancement provides an outreach center (ELEOS Outreach) with focus on The Arts. The have a Dance School, Art School, Music School, Food Pantry, and they provide tutoring.
This program is free to those who can not afford the fees. Not only are they involved locally, they also have a non-profit organization in Kenya called Strategic Missions-Kenya.
In Kenya they provide shelter, food, clothing, education, and teach them entrepreneur skills. They currently are in the process of purchasing land in Kenya to build a more permanent shelter/home to help them provide the things that are listed above.
This home will be large enough to house over 25-30 people. We are thrilled to be apart of this fundraising event and it is a great opportunity for our residents to get involved as well.
If you are interested in joining us for the Walk Your Dog A Thon, please contact our office and speak to either Brandie or Lauren. We hope to hear from you soon!!
Now that summer is over, we are sure that you are looking for an area where you can store all your beach items. Well you are in luck! We have a special deal on our storage units. You can rent one for $30 or two for $50! This will give you a good chance to store those summer items and keep your apartment nice and organized!
As disappointed as many of you may be, our pool will officially be closing on October 31st. If you are polar bear and love swimming the in the freezing water (the water is already cold with the cooler nights we have had) then you may want to get a few laps in before the end of the month. Remember, our pool deck is open year round so you are still more then welcome to enjoy nicer days and use the grills during the pool hours.
As many of you know, we have several changes going on in Garner. If you have not checked out the New Dollar Tree or Burlington Coat Factory they are both open. Being that they are new, they are clean and very well organized so this will help you get a head start on your holiday shopping.

Fall Landscaping Changes
As the leaves change, so do the flowers through out the community. You will notice throughout October, we will be transitioning to fall/winter flowers. We will also begin aerating and over seeding through the community.
Don’t be alarmed by the cork shaped plugs through out, it is a necessary process to keep everything green and pretty. We will also be touching up mulch through the community too. We love keeping Abberly Place green!

Breezeway Pressure Washing
The Service Team will be pressure washing breezeways in the following buildings in October. We pressure wash the breezeways and stairwells only.
Patios and decks are not including in this routine cleaning. If you would like to clean your patio or deck area, we ask that you use a broom and a damp cloth with mild cleaning solution.
Please do not dump water or cleaning products on the deck if you live on the upper levels. We do not want your below neighbors to be inconvenienced with water on their belongings.
On the day that your breezeway is scheduled to be cleaned, we ask that you remove anything outside your front door that you do not want to get wet.
Also, it is a good idea to place a towel at the base of your door just inside to keep water from forming a puddle inside. Thanks to all of you for helping us keep Abberly beautiful!
