Our office will be closed on Monday, September 2nd in recognition of Labor Day. We hope that you all enjoy your time off and fit in some last minute summertime fun!
Labor Day: How it Came About; What it Means
Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers.
It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.

Yay, It’s Football Season!
Fall is well on it’s way now that Football Season has officially kicked off. Join the fun and keep up with one of our local Universities as they are on the hunt to Victory.
UNC, NCSU, ECU and Duke all host some great games in the month of September. You can get their schedules if you visit here.
If you are free on a Friday night and enjoy high school football, Garner High School and the Trojan Stadium is just a short drive down the Road.
Garner High continues to carry on a tradition of leading the pack, with new Head Coach, Thurman Leach.
The Trojans are ranked number 1 in the area and boast a record of 29-2 in the past 2 years. Go and cheer them on and enjoy the game!
Renew Your Lease Today!
We know that you all get busy and sometimes things slip through the cracks. Don’t let the expiration date on your lease sneak up on you. You should get a friendly reminder from our office when it’s time to renew.
If your lease expires in August or September and you still have not renewed, please stop by or call our office for a new lease to be sent to your door as soon as possible.
We appreciate you choosing Abberly Place as your home and look forward to you staying for a while longer!
On the same note, we really want thank all of our residents who renewed their leases with us.
The majority of residents whose leases expired in July and August, decided to stay and sign a new lease with us.
We are so happy to have you here and truly appreciate you calling Abberly Place your home. We could not ask for better residents to serve! Again, a big Thanks to all!
Renting Vs. Buying
In today's economy, with unpredictable lay offs and relocations, people are choosing to rent housing versus buying a home. Renting offers short term obligation for those people who are uncertain what their financial standing will be in the near future.
If your company decides to downsize or relocate, you will not be locked into a 30 year mortgage. Most apartment communities offer flexible lease terms and options to break a contract if something unfortunate, like a job loss, happens.
Also, with renting an apartment, you will get the convenience of onsite amenities and benefits such as fitness centers, swimming pools, business centers and 24 hour maintenance. You will never have to replace an appliance or do any home repairs. This saves time and money.
We are happy that you all have decided to rent with Abberly for at least a little while and hope that you all will stay for a long time to come!
Pressure Washing Breezeways
The Service Team will be pressure washing breezeways in the following buildings in September. We pressure wash the breezeways and stairwells only. Patios and decks are not including in this routine cleaning.
If you would like to clean your patio or deck area, we ask that you use a broom and a damp cloth with mild cleaning solution.
Please do not dump water or cleaning products on the deck if you live on the upper levels. We do not want your below neighbors to be inconvenienced with water on their belongings.
On the day that your breezeway is scheduled to be cleaned, we ask that you remove anything outside your front door that you do not want to get wet.
Also, it is a good idea to place a towel at the base of your door just inside to keep water from forming a puddle inside. Thanks to all of you for helping us keep Abberly beautiful!

As everyone knows, safety is super important and we hope that everyone is cautious of safety issues in the home and car.
We have found that the website, NSU.org, is a great place to go for safety tips. We have listed one below for your reading and we encourage you to visit the site for more useful information.
More than 60,000 young people visit emergency rooms each year because of medication poisonings.
Unintentional poisoning includes the unsupervised ingestion of drugs or chemicals, "overdoses" or the excessive use of a drug and exposure to environmental substances.
The most common poisons include prescription and over-the-counter medications, cleaning products and personal care products.
Eighty percent of incidents occur when a family member eats or swallows over-the-counter and prescription medicines when an adult wasn't watching.
Family members are poisoned by pills or liquid medicine left unattended on countertops and tables, loose in purses or found on the floor.
In 2008, poison control centers reported receiving calls about 2.5 million human poison exposure cases.
Protect your family
- Store medicines and vitamins up and away, out of reach and out of sight of young children. Find a place in your home that is too high for children to reach or see. Walk around your house and decide on the safest place to keep your medicines and vitamins. For more information on medicine storage, visit our Up and Away Resources Page.
- Put medicines and vitamins away every time you use it. This includes medicines and vitamins you use every day. Never leave them out on a kitchen counter or at a sick child’s bedside, even if you have to give the medicine again in a few hours.
- Tell your children what medicine is and why you must be the one to give it to them. Never tell children medicine is candy to get them to take it, even if your child does not like to take his or her medicine.
- Listen for the click to make sure the safety cap is locked. Remember, even though many medicines and vitamins have safety caps, children may be able to open them.
- Ask houseguests and visitors to keep purses, bags or coats that have medicines in them up and away and out of sight when they are in your home.
- Put the poison control number, 1-800-222-1222, on or near every home telephone and save it on your cell phone.
Pool Season is still IN!
Most places will close pools after Labor Day, be not here at Abberly Place. Our pools will remain open for swimming until the end of October.
The weather here is usually still nice and temps are warm through the month so we see no reason to stop the fun just yet.
Just remember that the pool rules are posted at each pool deck and we appreciate everyone following them.
If there ever any concerns or any questions about the pool rules, please do not hesitate to call us at 919-772-6545. Thanks and enjoy the rest of your summer.
Tell Us How We Are Doing
As many of you know, we have become Survey Savvy. We have a survey that we send out to people who have recently moved into Abberly, moved out of Abberly, a Service Request Survey and a general Resident Survey.
We truly want to know what you think and how we are serving you. Our number one goal is always to achieve the highest level of Customer Service.
Without you, our customer, we have no purpose. Your input helps us improve in needed areas or gives us ideas of new things that we can do to enhance your living experience. Please take time to go to our Resident Survey Page, and tell us how we are doing.
